Painting Questions, Answered
The general questions homeowners and property managers ask us most, grouped by where they come up. Service and town specific answers live on their own pages, linked below.
Estimates, paperwork and payment
Is the price on the estimate the price I pay?
Yes, unless you ask us to change the scope. The estimate is itemised by surface, so if something is added or dropped you can see exactly which line moved and why. There are no surprises on your final invoice.
Do you offer financing?
No. We do not offer or broker finance. What we do instead is take no deposit at all: you pay once the work is finished and you have approved it at the walkthrough.
What paperwork do I end up with?
An itemised estimate before the job, and at completion the written workmanship guarantee plus the record of the products, colours and sheens used on each surface. Full detail on the warranty page.
Can I get more than one option priced?
Yes. If you are weighing up, say, the whole exterior against doing the sun-facing elevations first, ask at the estimate visit and we will price both so you can compare them side by side.
Before we start
How far ahead should I book?
It depends on the season. Exterior work in late spring and early autumn fills up first. Interior work, cabinets and drywall repair are not weather dependent, so winter is usually the easiest time to get a slot.
What should I tell you when I get in touch?
Which rooms or which elevations, anything you already know is a problem, whether the colour is changing, roughly when it was last painted, and the year the house was built. The full list is on the contact page.
What do I need to do before the crew arrives?
Very little. We move and cover furniture ourselves. If there is anything fragile you would rather handle, or anything you do not want moved at all, tell us at the estimate and we will plan around it.
What about pets and access?
Tell us at the estimate. Gate codes, dogs, a stretch we cannot park near, or a day nobody will be home are all easier to plan for up front than to work around on the morning.
While the work is running
Who is my point of contact once the job starts?
You get a project manager for the job, and the same crew stays on it from prep through to the final walkthrough. You are not passed between people.
What happens if the weather turns?
On exterior work we watch overnight lows rather than daytime highs, because most coatings are still curing at two in the morning. If a window looks bad we will tell you and move the day rather than push a coat onto a surface that cannot take it.
What does the daily cleanup involve?
Tools and materials off the floor, drop cloths gathered, walkways cleared, and an update at the end of each day so you know where the job is and what happens next.
Can I change my mind about a colour mid job?
On an unpainted surface, usually yes, and we will tell you honestly what it costs in time and material. Once a surface is coated, a change means the surface gets recoated, so it is worth settling colours during the free colour hour.
After the job
How do I make a guarantee claim?
Call or email, tell us what you are seeing and roughly when it started, and we come and look in person at no charge. The full process is on the warranty page.
Can I touch up a scuff myself later?
Yes, and your paperwork is what makes it possible. It names the brand, product line, colour and sheen for each surface, so you can buy the exact match years later rather than guessing.
Where can I see more of your work?
On our gallery page, and on our Google Business Profile, which also carries the reviews.
Which towns do you cover?
Grand Junction and Mesa County out to Montrose, with no travel charge and the same guarantee wherever you are. Full list on the service areas page.
